'We are farmers, not terrorists': Khalistanis hold protest outside Indian embassy in Washington DC

Tens of thousands of farmers broke barriers to storm the national capital on Tuesday. Unprecedented anarchy on the streets of Delhi. Clashes in multiple places, violence in well-known landmarks of Delhi and its suburbs

New Delhi: Khalistan supporters held a protest outside the Indian embassy in Washington DC in support of the protest against farm laws in India.

Carrying Khalistan flag and placards saying “we are farmers, not terrorists”, the Khalistanis raised slogans against the Narendra Modi-led BJP government.

This comes after tens of thousands of protesters clashed with police in multiple places in the national capital and hoisted a religious flag from the rampart of Red Fort.

Khalistanis Support Farmers' Protest

In another shocking incident, the Khalistanis raised Khalistan flag at the Indian Embassy in Rome, Italy.

In the video, shared by Asianet, the walls of the Indian Embassy in Rome can be seen painted with “Khalistan Zindabad” slogan.

The news report also claimed that torn copies of the Indian constitution were thrown on the floor by the Khalistanis.

The tractor rally by the farmers in the national capital on the 72nd Republic Day turned violent and ugly after they entered the premises of Red Fort with one of them raising a flag from the ramparts of the historic fort where the Tricolour is hoisted.

Deviating from the pre-determined route, the protestors came to central Delhi after which violence erupted near ITO area. Protestors driving tractors even tried to run over police personnel deployed in the area.

Farmers, Nihangs Attacked Cops, Destroyed Public Property

Several videos going viral on social media show farmers and Nihangs vandalising public property and attacking cops with swords and other sharp weapons.

More than 86 police personnel were injured in the attack and as per the media reports, condition of many of them is serious.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait pinned the blame on the violence on antisocial elements present in the protest.

He further blamed the Delhi Police saying due to their actions some antisocial elements entered the parade and caused the violence.

The BKU leader also alleged that the Delhi Police had wrongly placed barricades at some places of the pre-decided routes of the parade.
