Sacrifice of Galwan braves won't go in vain, no one can test our patience: Gen Naravane on Army Day

The sacrifice of the 20 Indian soldiers killed in the Galwan valley during a violent face-off with Chinese troops in June last year will not go in vain, said Indian Army chief Gen. MM Naravane on the occasion of Army Day.

The Army Chief said 2020 was a "big challenge" for the Army on the northern border due the standoff with China and the challenge "was responded".

"Sacrifice of the Galwan martyrs won't go waste. Our enemies should not underestimate our strength. Nobody can test our patience," Gen Naravane said.

He added that eight rounds of talks have been held between the two sides and despite harsh conditions, soldiers have ensured security.

Speaking about the security threat from Pakistan, the Army chief said there has been a 40 per cent increase in ceasefire violation on the Line of Control.

"Tunnels have been found close to borders with Pakistan," he said.
