Indian Aviation Industry : From a Dream to build Tejas to building 4 jets at a time

This decade will be a busy decade for the Indian aviation industry. Especially when it comes to the fighter jet program, it proves its worth. Because by 2030, India is going to see a lot of new fighter jets in its own country. –

Can you imagine where India's aviation industry stands? Before you think about it, you have to step back a little bit.

In the eighties, the Indian Air Force began thinking of building its own single-engine fighter jets that would be suitable for modern warfare and replace the old Indian Air Force MIG-21s. The plan is to build fighter jets. Not only do you have to face technical hurdles or financial hurdles, but you also have to stand against the strong lobby of the international arms market which is not easy.

The US blockade on India's lap is a demonstration of India's nuclear capability, which has been a headache for the US and its European allies. This was the first appearance of a fighter jet. After that, for ten more years, various prototypes of the Tejas were made, various experiments were carried out on them and finally, in 2001, the modern Tejas of India flew in the sky. Although India has since emerged as a new economic power in the world, it is slowly building a trusting relationship with India in the West. Finally, in 2015, about fifteen years after the first flight, the first Tejas fighter jet became part of the Indian Air Force.

This means that India has had to face many obstacles in building the Tejas. At first glance, the development of the Tejas may seem like a long time (although there is evidence that many European fighter jets took more time than the Tejas or more than the Tejas). Overcoming adversities, Tejas is a successful project in India today. About six squadrons of Tejas fighter jets will be part of the Indian Air Force. Many countries around the world have shown interest in this fighter jet.

Now You may also think that it took so long to build a Tejas. Then India will take a lot more time to build so many fighter jets. No, that's not the case. Once the tree is in danger, all the fruits of the tree will be at hand. After the success of the Tejas project, we have become better aware of the various difficult steps of aviation technology. India is currently among the largest economic powers. The development of US-Europe-Russia relations with India is at an all-time high. And the Indian government has faith in its own products. The first flight of Tejas AF MWF Mk 2 is planned for 2023 and production will start in 2025. Between 2025 and 2028, the first prototype of the ORCA and TEDBF will fly to the skies. Two of the four fourth-generation advanced fighters will fly to the skies in India. At the same time, there is a possibility of the first flight of the fifth-generation fighter jet AMCA by 2025-26 and production will start in 2028-29. According to the plan of the Air Force, the production of these fighter jets will start within 2030.

The time schedule may differ a couple of years, but it will not be as long as it used to be, because the situation is completely in favor of Indian products. India's #MakeInIndia program is being supported by the Indian government as well as foreign tech giants and they are giving a go-ahead signal without any hindrance. India will be self-sufficient in engine technology by 2024 with the help of those countries. Modern radar technology has already been developed indigenously by India, as you will see in the near future. There will be no missile technology which India will not have. You will also see the first Unmanned Loyal Wingman CATS WARRIOR of Combat Air Teaming System (CATS) flying in the sky within the next one to one and a half years.

This aviation capability of today's India was not built in a day. So many hard works, difficulties, support from some Govt leaders and our scientist's dedication, and the hard works of our engineers of HAL and ADA have finally paid us some unimaginable dividends. Time has come to enjoy the fruit we have ripened in the hard-earned tree. Time has come to remember those who have dreamt of this day and started the journey of Tejas and our indigenous aviation industry. The country will always be indebted to their contributions and efforts.
