HAL showcases ” CATS Hunter” Air launched Stand-Off Cruise Missile
IMAGE COPYRIGHT : Vayu Aerospace and Defence Review and IDRW State-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) which has tied up with Bengaluru-based startup NewSpace Research and Technologies is showcasing at Aero India 2021, Combat Air Teaming System (CATS) Hunter, an Air launched low observable, high precision, Stand-Off Cruise Missile for the first time. As per images provided by the Vayu Aerospace and Defence Review, CATS Hunter can be used against ground targets and naval targets that will feature a 250kg high explosive blast fragmentation warhead. CATS Hunter will have a range of 200+ kilometers which will be equipped with a new generation navigation system, Global Positioning System, Terrain Relative Navigation, Image-Based Navigation, Automatic Target Acquisition, and will be equipped with an Imaging Infrared Seeker.

600+kg CATS Hunter will be powered by a turbojet engine that could be integrated with Tejas Mk1A, Mirage-2000, and Su-30MKI fighter fleet initially and later on LCA Mk2, TEDBF and AMCA. along with CATS Hunter ALCM, is an air-launched swarm drone system called the Alpha-S in a carrier Pod that can be released mid-air by the mother aircraft towards its intended targets.
