BRO completes Road, linking Ladakh's Lukung to Khakted, constructed amidst stand-off with China.
New Delhi: The BRO has completed the road connecting Lukung to Khakted in Ladakh amidst ongoing tension along the China border. The road, constructed at a cost of 36 crores, has a length of 36 km which connects Lukung to four villages - Maan, Merak, Spangmik, and Khakted.
At the same time, the BRO has almost completed the work of the world's highest road in East Ladakh. The road passes through Marasimak-La, the highest pass in the world and connects Lukung and Phobrang to the hot-spring of LAC, adjacent to Pengong-tso Lake.
Hot-Spring is the same disputed area of LAC where there is a confrontation between the soldiers of India and China these days. The total length of the Marasimak-La road is 75 km and it reaches a height of about 18,953 feet. In 2017, the BRO had approved the construction of this road immediately after the Doklam dispute.
