IgMp Big Updates !! 2000 Akash 1S missiles for Indian Army, AGM Hellfire for Rudra-LCH, 11 Apaches f
The Indian Army currently operates two regiments of the indigenous Akash air defense systems, and the Army is now planning to place an order for two more regiments, of the new Akash 1S air defense systems, which turns out to be a procurement of approximately 2,000 missiles worth over 3.1 billion US dollars. The Akash 1S has an effective range of 30 kilometres, with multi target engagement capability. And it comes with an indigenously developed seeker. The new Akash 1S variant has already completed its developmental trials successfully, and the Bharat dynamics limited can produce 100 units per month. Top officials have said, that the new variant has seen particular interests from Vietnam, and the discussions have started for its export, and local manufacturing in Vietnam.
Boeing has officially offered, the strike optimized and latest variant of the F-15E Strike Eagle legacy jet, the F-15 EX to India, which has been upgraded with latest sensor fusion technology of the F-35 and F-22 stealth fighter jets. And like the F/A-18 Super Hornet block-III fighter jet offer, both the Hindustan Aeronautics and Mahindra defence have been roped in as partners by Boeing, if it's F-15 EX is selected by the Indian Air Force for the 114 fighter jets tender. The Indian Air Force is not keen on buying the F/A-18 Super Hornet block 3, since it is a carrier-based fighter jet and it had also lost to the Eurofighter Typhoon and Dassault Rafale fighter jet in technical rounds in the last tender, while the F-15 EX could be marketed with the 180 kilometers range AIM 120 AMRAAM beyond visual range air to air missile. It is to be noted that the F-15 users, in the asia-pacific region, including Singapore have been bought into the F-35 program.
The Indian Army has been proposing, the integration of american AGN 114 Hellfire systems, on both the Rudra Mk-IV and light combat helicopters but the DRDO has claimed that both the Helina and saint anti-tank guided systems have cleared all trials and are ready for production but the Army is delaying the order of indigenous systems, over imported systems. Israel has offered its helicopter launched extended range spike system, while the European firm MBDA has offered its Pass L3 system. discussions are currently underway, and a deal to equip, both the combat helicopters, with an anti-tank guided system, will be cleared by the Ministry of Defence, by the end of this year.
Boeing has confirmed, that all 22 Apache helicopters have been delivered to the Indian Air Force, and the company will deliver six Apache helicopters to the Indian army in 2023. the army version will be identical to the Air Force version, in terms of capabilities, but the army has decided to go, with a different color scheme, from the Air Force version. the indian army aims to acquire five more Apache helicopters, under the original contract, at the same price, since the original contract had a follow-on order option, for 11 helicopters.
The U S will complete, the user tests, of the agm 158c long range anti-ship system, by 2026, and it will be offered, to all the p8 aircraft operators, including the indian navy, which is currently the second biggest operator of p8 maritime aircraft, after the us navy. the agm-158c, is a stealthy anti-ship cruise system, with a range of 1000 kilometers, and is equipped with sophisticated, autonomous targeting capabilities, mid-course guidance, low altitude profile, obstacle avoidance algorithms, can detect and target a specific ship within a group of vessels.
