On 21 OctoberDefence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurating Col Chewang Rinchen Bridge 2019, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated this bridge which connects Durbuk and Daulat Beg Oldie in eastern Ladakh. He had reached Ladakh with the army chief and also visited on the newly constructed bridge. This bridge will give a boost to road connectivity from Drabuk to DBO near the China border. It is a 4.5 meters wide, 1400 ft long bridge situated at 14,000 ft with Load capacity 70 tonnes.

Earlier, due to lack of road connectivity on the China border, Many problems were faced by Indian Army in transporting goods to the outposts there. Now the necessary equipment and weapons will be easily accessible to the soldiers of Indian Army on the border with the help of this Bridge.

The strength of the Indian Army will be doubled by the construction of this bridge, which can bear 70 tons of weight. Significantly, China has built roads to the border itself, laid a railway line, constructed an airstrip, but has been trying to prevent India from doing so.
